​7 digital currency exchanges pass security screening in South Korea The South Korean government released its security screening results for the digital currency exchanges, with only 7 bourses able to pass 85 checkpoints.
South Korea's Ministry of Science and Information Technology (MCIT) announced the results of a security check on digital currency exchanges Thursday, according to local media.
In cooperation with the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), the Ministry inspected 38 digital currency exchanges from September to December last year, twenty-one of them were inspected between January and March last year while 17 Stock Exchange for the first time.
Seven South Korean digital currency exchanges successfully passed through the government security inspection, while recommendations were made to 21 exchanges to improve some security measures. The successful bourses passed the following security checks: Upbit, Bithumb, Gopax, Coinone, Korbit, Hanbitco and Huobi Korea, the report said, adding that an official at the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology said:
"Most of them have weak security except for the seven stock exchanges that meet all 85 inspection items."
By examining 85 of the basic security requirements of 17 modern digital currency exchanges, it was ascertained that the security level of these exchanges was generally weak, with 61 security items on average.
"In particular, it has been confirmed that most customers have a low level of security such as network separation and access control, as well as the creation and management of security systems such as the primary personal computer and the network," he said.
South Korea's Ministry of Science and Information Technology said it would continue its audits and inspect exchanges of digital currency exchanges with other security flaws, with a focus on protecting investors from hacking and theft.
