Blockchain helps the Azerbaijan to accomplish customs duties The Azerbaijani government has signed an agreement to implement the blockchain technology in the field of customs, with the aim of faster and safer clearance of customs procedures.
IBM expanded its partnership with the Azerbaijani government to bring block chain technology to customs procedures, Trend News reported in Central Asia on Wednesday (June 12th).
Following a deal reported with the country's central bank in October 2018, which is supposed to be deployed blockchain in different regions over a five-year period, IBM will now use technology to target the transfer of goods.
The news came from the Azerbaijan State Customs Commission, whose president, Safar Mehdiev, spoke of the plans at a press conference at the World Trade Organization (WCO) IT / TI conference and exhibition.
For his part, the head of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan:
"It will be possible to obtain the necessary information from the database on the Internet, without external interference."
He added:
"It will be beneficial to both entrepreneurs and customs authorities, as it will improve the quality of customs services provided."
The block chain potential in customs procedures has always been a source of concern to governments around the world, including the United States, which launched its own technology pilot program last August.
At the same time, Baku wants to increase the use of the new tool beyond its borders, adding that there are plans include Moldova and Ukraine nearby, as well as neighboring Georgia.
"In this direction, we are implementing a project with Ukraine with the support of Georgia and Moldova," the Asian newspaper quoted him as saying.
An Azerbaijani government agency represented by the Ministry of Justice has also shown interest in block chain technology in its operations, according to Cointelegraph late last year.
Blockchain is a digital book. This book can record any transaction on it, not just a financial transaction, but any transaction on the globe that is not fraudulent or tampering, and its database is distributed, allowing easy verification.
