​Australias consumer price index rose

Australia's consumer price index rose 0.4 percent on a quarterly basis in the second three months of 2018, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday, below expectations for a 0.5 percent rise, but unchanged from the first-quarter reading.

On an annual basis, inflation rose 2.1 percent - under expectations of 2.2 percent and up from 1.9 percent in the previous three months.

The moving average rose 0.5 percent on a quarterly basis and 1.9 percent year-on-year, as expected, unchanged from the previous three months.

The weighted average rose 0.5 percent on a quarterly basis, unchanged as expected. It also rose 1.9 percent year-on-year to match expectations and fell from 2.1 percent in the first quarter.
